Green Tip: Beginning to show in NY2. 3.11.16

Early evening observations on NY2 apple variety at the HVRL noted showed early green tip yesterday evening. Less then 50% of the buds showed green last evening. Predicted sunlight and moderate temperatures will likely push buds into more green through the weekend.

No leaf tissue was observed in Ginger Gold or Mac’s last evening.

Applications of oil and copper should begin before too much green tissue is exposed. Be conservative in oil applications with green tissue present during low temperature at or below freezing. The next 24h (Sunday morning) looks promising for management in early blocks ahead of the rain.
